Hi - I'm training to be part of the ROCAN fundraising charity ride in March 2026. It is a 7 day event going through towns such as Bendigo, Aararat, Stawell and Horsham. The distance covered for the event will be 1,000km.
Why am I doint this?! Well, approximately 1,000 to 1,100 women die from ovarian cancer each year in Australia. It is recognized as one of the deadliest women's cancers, with roughly three women dying from the disease every day. The five-year survival rate is low at 49%, largely because many cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage. There is no effecive screening test - Yet!!!
This fund raising is aimed at early detection of Ovarian cancer, cancer treatment and to build a wellness centre where families will be able to stay overnight whilst their loved ones are undergoing treatment. We're really excited that the focus this year will be to raise funds for Ovarian Cancer Australia and Fight Cancer Foundation.
